What I Wore {Mint Dream}

Sunday's sermon was about the 10th commandment: DO NOT COVET. And it's been on my mind since. Before church I would have described myself as pretty content with life but I soon realized while listening to the sermon that I am SO not. I want and feel like I need/deserve so much. And why am I not just content to love and appreciate what's been given to me? It's just so hard sometimes. Especially in this world. Especially with all the social media outlets, blogs, online shopping, etc. It's so hard. And then I got to thinking about this space here and my WHAT I WORE posts. I hope to NEVER make anyone feel like they want or need what I have in a coveting way. I am here to inspire outfits and that is it. And if you are in the market for a new, mint green, mumu style dress than here you go! I found one for you (wink, wink). I don't have everything I want and I'm learning really quickly through our journey of house hunting that I am quick to covet what I don't have. And it sucks big time when I find something I love and then it doesn't work out. But then I put my WHOLE life into perspective and its pretty great. I've been dealt a great hand.

One thing our pastor said that really stuck with me and is now imbedded on my heart was (in so many words) God is not so much concerned with how rich we are, or how poor we are. He is so much concerned with how we give the glory to God.

And this was the take home for the congregation:
We'll miss contentment if keeping, rather than releasing, becomes our objective. We too often love things and use people, when we should be using things and loving people. we are most content when we're grateful for what we own, satisfied with what we make, and generous to those in need.

Oh Jesus, did I need that sermon this week. So so much this week.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Philippians 4:8

Lots of pom pom (which if you follow me on Insta you know I'm a huge fan of and use on may of the items I make for littles), crochet, tassel, feather. It's all so fun. A nice, girly touch without being too over the top. No sparkles or sequins here but give me all the pom pom trim you got :)

What's Up


Whew July. Can't believe it's already coming to an end and it will be August soon. We are gearing up for it. Elle starts KINDERGARTEN mid August. So hard to believe that in less than a month my sweet baby girl will be an official elementary schooler! So crazy.

Mango + Jalapeno Quinoa Salad {copycat Jason's Deli recipe}

Happy Wednesday, friends. It's another rainy day for us. We've been having so much rain. Crazy flash floods and all. It's a mess. One more day of projected rain tomorrow and then the summer weather will be back to dry us all up. Just in time for the weekend.

Last week we ate at Jason's Deli and I had the quinoa salad off the salad bar and it was so good, so I sat there and dissected it, made notes and recreated it for dinner a few days later. It turned out so good. My family loved it. I made it again today and remembered that I wanted to share the recipe with you.

This recipe makes a TON. Probably around 12 servings. We ate on it for 3-4 days.

Mango + Jalapeno Quinoa Salad
{copycat Jason's Deli recipe}

4 cups vegetable broth (or water)
2 cups white quinoa
1 cup red onion, chopped
1 avocado, chopped
1/2 pink grape tomatoes, halved
1/2 cup cilantro, chopped (more or less to your liking)
2 jalapenos, chopped
1 cup mango, chopped
4 tbsp olive oil
juice of 1 lime
salt + pepper to taste

Bring vegetable broth and quinoa to a boil. Reduce heat to simmer, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes or until all liquid is cooked out. Remove quinoa from heat and let cool completely. Once cooled add all fruit and veggies, olive oil, lime juice and salt pepper and mix until combined.

Simple as that! Delicious and HEALTHY. A perfect summer side.

Independence Day

Started off the morning with a good ole down home parade and then ventured over to my parents for the rest of the afternoon. It was the best Saturday full of family, friends, lots of food and pool time. I wouldn't complain if everyday was like Saturday. So thankful to a)be American born and bred and b)to have wonderful and fun family and friends to celebrate America with :)

Happy 4th of July

We ventured to the 4th of July parade in our town this morning and parked right in front this awesome red and white wall that made for the perfect backdrop for their outfits. I love this picture so much (Aaron was biting my shoulder to get that smile from Harry)!

I heard on the radio the other day that America is one of only 22 nations with a democracy older than 50 years. That to me is so crazy. So proud to live in a country that allows us the freedom to live and love as we choose. It really is great to be an American!

What I Wore {Date Night}

Aaron and I got to go on a date Tuesday night to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary! We had such a good time just the two of us. It's so hard to believe that we've already been married 8 years. Time flies when you're having fun.

I love this back so much because it's fun without being too showy. And if you're like me and lacking in the chest department you can go sans bra, which is awesome during the summer.
